The women's liberation movement knew that the personal is political. We understood that how we lived our personal lives was deeply intertwined with our political lives as well. Through consciousness raising groups organized by the CWLU, women shared their life stories and learned how complex and profound this interrelationship is. What follow are real life stories from former CWLU members and friends. Some of these memoirs are highly personal and we share them in spirit of the original consciousness raising groups. We
have divided our memoirs and biographies into three sections
based on how they are presented.
